For the first time in over a decade, the MXGP paddock is without Jeremy Seewer. The Swiss rider’s remarkable run of consistency came to an abrupt halt following his departure from the Ducati project, bringing an end to an incredible streak of 229 consecutive Grand Prix starts across the MX2 and MXGP World Championships.
After a challenging first half of the season, Seewer suddenly finds himself on the sidelines and without a confirmed ride. However, he is determined to get back to racing and continue competing at the highest level.
There has already been speculation surrounding his future. Seewer has been spotted testing a Suzuki machine in Belgium on more than one occasion and even teased fans with a photo of himself on the bike last week. While that naturally sparked rumours, it’s understood that he has also tested at least one other manufacturer, meaning nothing should be considered final just yet.
What is clear is that Seewer still has the desire and motivation to race. After everything he has achieved throughout his Grand Prix career, many within the paddock will be hoping to see him back before the end of the season, ready to remind everyone of the speed and consistency that made him one of MXGP’s most respected riders.
Seewer posted the following update:
“I’ve been a bit quiet on this channel lately. As most of you have already noticed, Ducati Corse and I are going our separate ways”.
“Our journey started one and a half years ago. Even though it wasn’t always easy, together we achieved some special moments including Ducati’s first MXGP podium and one of my personal highlights: standing on the MXGP podium at my home race in Frauenfeld. Thank you to Ducati Corse and both teams involved, Maddii Racing & Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP team, for your support throughout this journey”.
“I also want to thank my personal sponsors (Fox Racingeurope, Chris Sports.ch, Tissot Official, Q3 Totalunternehmung AG, Bischof Transporte Mühle Transport AG Hensch AG) and all my fans who continue to stand behind me, even through the more challenging times”.
“With my consistency, I completed 229 consecutive starts in MX2 & MXGP. Meaning I haven’t missed a single MXGP/MX2 race since 2013. Even though it’s currently unclear when, I’m determined to make my way back to the start gate. See you soon”.
Whether Seewer’s next chapter is with Suzuki or another manufacturer entirely remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: riders with his experience, professionalism and proven ability don’t simply disappear overnight. His streak may have ended, but his story in the Grand Prix paddock appears far from over. The MXGP world will now wait to see when — rather than if — Jeremy Seewer lines up behind the gate once again.
