Confirmed: Bernardo Tibúrcio extends his contract with Yamaha 115 M78 for 2027

After a successful rookie season in the 2026 European Championship, Brazilian rider sets his sights on fighting for the 2027 EMX250 title

Yamaha Racing Brasil is pleased to announce that Bernardo Tibúrcio has extended his contract with the Yamaha 115 M78 team and will continue representing the squad during the 2027 EMX250 European Championship and the Spanish Motocross Championship.

The rider from Minas Gerais is currently enjoying his rookie season in Europe, carrying the hopes of Brazilian motocross fans eager to see one of their own succeed on the international stage. With impressive performances that include a podium finish in the EMX250 Championship and race victories in the Spanish Championship, Tibúrcio has emerged as one of the early favourites for next year’s EMX250 title.

“I’m very happy to continue this journey with Yamaha 115 M78. The team believed in me from the very beginning, and I know we still have a lot to achieve together. I’m already motivated for 2027,” said Bernardo Tibúrcio.

For the team management, renewing Tibúrcio’s contract is a natural continuation of the project that began in 2026.

“Bernardo is exactly the type of rider we’re looking for: dedicated, constantly improving and fully committed to the project. Renewing with him for 2027 was the obvious decision after everything we’ve built together,” said Yamaha 115 M78 team manager Carlos Campano.

Injury recovery

Bernardo is using the current break in the European racing calendar to focus on recovering from several injuries, particularly a knee issue. The rider has already begun rehabilitation under specialist medical supervision and is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days. Yamaha 115 M78 stressed that the priority is ensuring a full and safe recovery, without rushing the rehabilitation process.

“Right now I’m going to dedicate myself 100% to my recovery while the championship is on its break. We’ve now learned what it’s like to race in Europe and Spain, so it’s no longer something new for me. We decided this was the best time to treat my knee and my back, even if it means missing some races this year. It’ll allow me to come back safely, at my best physical level, and be fully prepared for 2027,” explained the Brazilian.

Motocross of Nations

The team has also confirmed that it cannot guarantee Tibúrcio will be fully recovered in time for the 2026 Motocross of Nations, meaning he will not be part of Brazil’s selection this year. The decision has been made to ensure that every rider representing the country is fully fit to compete.

“The Motocross of Nations is incredibly important, and Brazil deserves to be represented by riders who can perform at their absolute best. I have complete confidence in the Brazilian riders and I’m sure the team will be very strong. I’ll be cheering them on, following everything closely and wishing the team the very best,” said Tibúrcio.

Yamaha Racing Brasil praised the rider’s decision as a sign of maturity and commitment to Brazilian motocross.

“This decision says a lot about Bernardo’s character. He’s thinking about the bigger picture and what’s best for Brazilian motocross,” added Campano.

With his full focus now on recovery, Bernardo Tibúrcio and Yamaha 115 M78 will continue their partnership into the 2027 season, aiming to return stronger than ever and continue flying the Brazilian flag at the highest level of world motocross.

The rider will also attend the final round of the 2026 Brazilian Motocross Championship in Brumadinho on 12-13 September, where he will take part in sponsor and fan activities despite being sidelined through injury.
