Interview: Jago Geerts – back in the top ten on the Beta!

After a few years of injury after injury, Jago Geerts is rebuilding his career in 2026 on the Beta and has been very impressive lately making the top ten in both Loket and Foxhill to remind everyone of his talent as he starts to gain back the confidence that saw Geerts battle tooth and nail with Tom Vialle for the MX2 world title and even Eli Tomac on at Red Bud  MXoN on the 450 Yamaha in 2022.

We caught up with the Belgian on the eve of his home GP at Lommel with Geerts finally getting some luck and momentum on his side after years of pain and frustration.

Geerts said of a tough few years: “The last MX2 season I had two injuries, but I still finished in seconds. So I had quite a lot of injuries on a short time, and it messes with your confidence and everything. And you really need to get back in a good rhythm and have a few races where nothing goes wrong. And I think this season I’ve just been building on that confidence again and getting back in better shape.”

“I could come back from outside the top 20 to 9th in the second race (at Loket) the speed was there for sure, and I’m getting the confidence back to do some passes in the first few laps and everything. So yeah, that was really good. So I hope to do the same here. But yeah, for sure, I hope to get a better start.”
