Race One: It was a masterclass from Jeffrey Herlings and Lucas Coenen of how to ride the deep, brutal sand. It was Coenen who was leading the way around the first couple of corners but Herlings made a move and started to sprint away the first couple of laps.
Coenen though, was able to close down and it was on at the front but Herlings stayed strong and won.
Meanwhile, Febvre was fourth on the first lap and just couldn’t pass Bogers before he had a crash dropping him down the order. He was able to get back to sixth but still couldn’t pass Bogers who had a great race for fifth.
Glenn Coldenhoff rode a solid race for third – but nearly a minute behind the first two that shows just how fast they were going. Ruben Fernandez will be delighted with fourth after his big crash last week.
Ben Watson was running as high as sixth before coming home a strong eighth ahead of Jago Geerts.
Race Two: Herlings lead on the first lap and just like in race one sprinted away at the front of the field and this time Coenen couldn’t close the gap so Herlings had the perfect weekend to win his 109th GP overall.
Coenen did have some pressure behind from Febvre but was able to stay strong under the pressure and ended up pulling away from the Factory Kawasaki rider – he now has the championship points down to 26 points.
Geerts had a strong ride to pass Ruben Fernandez to bring home a superb fourth. Bonacorsi also passed Fernandez for fifth but the Spaniard will be happy with fifth after his big crash last week.
