After another perfect weekend of three wins from three starts and a blazing fast opening lap in race two that saw him blitz by Gajser and race leader Febvre in a few corners, Herlings confidence is rising as the Dutch super talent launches himself even closer to that coveted sixth world title, with a 116 point lead over Romain Febvre with four rounds to go.
An increasingly confident Herlings who probably looks the best he has on a bike since 2017 and 2018, said: “I got to say #, it was an awesome weekend. I led every single lap and even the second moto my jump was really bad, my reaction was a bit late but I managed to pass Romain and pass Tim straight away in the second and third turns, so leading every lap this weekend once again, it’s just awesome.
“It’s lovely to have won since Foxhill, I think this is three or four in a row now it definitely gives me a lot o confidence, especially going into my home race. I like to have a dutch GP, I practice there a lot and have raced there a lot in the past, so I am happy to return home. Hopefully I can do the same thing and win and do the Dutch fans proud but, at the same time, we have to start thinking about the about championship, we have four races left, so no risks.”
Herlings can clinch his sixth world title in Turkey with two rounds to go if he leaves there with a 120 point lead.
