Jeffrey Herlings took his second GP win in a row to show he is getting back to his best after racing his way into shape following his ACL injury.

Herlings and Coenen checked out in race one as they went to a different level than the rest with Herlings holding off the determined Belgian to take the win as Coenen once again showed just how good he is battling with one of the legends of the game. Just like in the US with Jett and Tomac, we are seeing two generational talents go head-to-head – enjoy it while it lasts!

Romain Febvre had a tough moto crashing while searching for way by Brian Bogers for third, eventually coming hime sixth and losing points to Coenen.

Herlings got the lead quickly in race two and sprinted away to a ten second lead from Coenen in second who couldn’t match the Dutch rider’s sprint speed. This time, Febvre was third out of turn one and went with Coenen, Febvre did everything he could to pass Coenen but couldn’t make it happen as Herlings took the win again but wasn’t happy with the backmarkers getting in his way late as Coenen got the gap down to four seconds and Febvre settled for third.

Febvre’s lead in the championship is now down to 26 points as Coenen starts to really his presence felt in this title fight – it could go down to the wire!

Herlings said: “It was really good, just the lappers need to learn what the blue flag is, they just stayed in the main line. I lost ten seconds the last four laps, quite frustrating. But anyway, we went 1-1-1, really pleased with that, second (GP) win in a row, really pleased with that.”

Glenn Coldenhoff was solid all day for fourth overall, as Ruben Fernandez dug deep after his crash last week to take fifth and Jago Geerts, with a fourth in race two after finally gating inside the top ten, showed what he could do and took sixth overall.

Andrea Bonacorsi continues to show his speed regardless of condition to take seventh overall with Ben Watson riding great in race one in seventh for a long time, eventually taking eighth but a bad start meant a tough ride into tenth in race two for a strong eighth overall. Watson is having a good season,

Simon Längenfelder was seconds away from winning the Latvian GP with nearly a ten second lead over Kay de Wolf in race two when he threw it away in the waves! This gifted Sacha Coenen the GP win and title rival, De Wolf, the moto win, as Kay made five points on Längenfelder when the German should have made another three – an eight point swing!

Up until this out of the blue crash, Längenfelder had been perfect and was becoming the favourite for the title but pumped up De Wolf was given a lot of hope thanks to that crashed after a terrible moto one for the Dutch rider who crashed himself and finished eighth.

It all gave first moto winner, Coenen the overall. as he showed what he could do even though he was still suffering from a slight wrist injury with De Wolf’s win salvaging a podium in what looked to be a disaster until a great ride in moto two to pull through from a top ten start into second and then being gifted the win on the last lap.

De Wolf said he was struggling with the pain from his injured shoulder, and landed on it again in moto one, so he was very pumped to leave the day as a race winner and on the podium.

While a disappointed Längenfelder said: “It was good until it wasn’t. I think I will never make this mistake again, at least I will try! I was riding really good, good starts, good riding but one mistake too much on the last lap. Still second (overall) and the red plate, it’s good but could have been so much better.”

It was a terrible day for Andrea Adamo who had bad starts and crashes on his way to tenth overall.
