Race One: Conditions are deep and very challenging for the best riders in the world! Sacha Coenen got the holeshot and looked great out in front stretching his lead over his team mate, Simon Längenfelder. The German though started to close and it was on in the last couple of laps.
Coenen rode well to hold on and did his best lap of the race on the final lap. It might have been second for Längenfelder but he was the real winner in terms of the championship as De Wolf and Adamo both had two crashes each to finish eighth and eleventh respectively to lose more championship points.
Liam Everts rode a lonely race for third with Mathis Valin in fourth.
Camden McLellan made a lovely pass on home hero, Karlis Reisulis on the final lap for fifth.
Race Two: Längenfelder was having a flawless right at the front of the field and was less than half a lap away from a superb GP win but then he got a big crash! The German will be fuming as he threw the GP win away – the crash demoted him from first to third which allowed De Wolf to take the race win. De Wolf didn’t get the best of starts and rode well to get into second but Längenfelder had all the answers until that crash.
Coenen who was struggling after hurting his hand came home in second and that actually allowed the young Belgian to take the GP win – the third of his career!
Benistant had a better ride for fourth ahead of Liam Everts who rounded out the top five.
Adamo had a bad start and could only finish ninth in what was a bad weekend for him – he’ll be happy to leave Kegums!
