Race One: Sacha Coenen grabbed the holeshot and rode a lot better than he did in the qualifying race. He had some pressure behind from Liam Everts but Coenen was able to keep him behind him and brought home a big race win to get himself back into championship contention.
There wasn’t much to split the top four for most of the race which was intense. After Janis Reisulis passed Camden McLellan on the first lap, the South African spent most of the race behind the Latvian but was able to make a move in the closing stages.
Simon Längenfelder took too long to pass Kay Karssemakers for fifth and by the time he did the top four were gone. Guillem Farres required stitches after his qualifying race crash colliding with another rider but battled to sixth.
Race Two: The second moto was a similar affair with Coenen leading on the way from the get go with Everts pressuring him. Coenen again held strong in tricky conditions to bring home another strong win – perhaps the biggest win of his career so far as it gets him back in the championship chase.
McLellan was on the move because when he got into third he had around ten seconds to make up to the front two – he got it down to three seconds before backmarkers seemed to get in the way.
Farres was looking better in race two and was strong for fourth – not bad under the circumstances!
There’s now 24 points in it in the championship chase.
