RUMOUR: Maxime Renaux heading to Red Bull KTM for 2027?

The 2027 rider market is already beginning to gather momentum and one of the biggest stories emerging from the MXGP paddock could see Maxime Renaux make the switch to Red Bull KTM.

With the Coenen twins widely expected to head to America for the 2027 season – a move that has become one of the paddock’s worst-kept secrets – the De Carli Red Bull KTM team faces the difficult task of replacing two of the sport’s brightest young stars.

We understand that Renaux has emerged as a leading candidate to fill one of the upcoming spots on the team. The Frenchman was strongly linked with a move to Ducati last year before ultimately choosing to honour his Yamaha contract. However, with that deal expiring at the end of the current season, Renaux will become a free agent and free to decide his future.

Unsurprisingly, there has been significant interest in the 2021 MX2 World Champion, but we believe the Frenchman is now on course to join the De Carli KTM squad for the 2027 campaign.

The De Carli outfit has enjoyed tremendous success in recent years, winning multiple world titles, and will be hoping to secure both the MXGP and MX2 World Championships this season with the Coenen’s. Should Renaux complete the move, it would represent a huge opportunity for the French rider as he continues his pursuit of a first MXGP world title.

While Renaux has already proven himself capable of winning races at the highest level, injuries and inconsistency have prevented him from mounting a sustained title challenge. A switch to KTM could provide the fresh start and environment needed to finally establish himself as a genuine championship contender in the premier class.

Attention will also turn to KTM’s MX2 line-up for 2027, with another vacancy expected in the De Carli team. However, it remains unclear who the Italian based team will target to strengthen its roster in the highly competitive MX2 World Championship.

As always during silly season, nothing is official until contracts are signed. We’ll continue to monitor developments and keep you updated as more information emerges from the MXGP paddock.
