Dutch rider Glenn Coldenhoff, from the Yamaha C6 Bank IMS team, claimed his first win of his debut season in the Brazilian Motocross Championship. The Dutchman won the second moto of the second round of the competition, held this Sunday (26) in Ponta Grossa (PR). Another standout of the round was Yamaha Monster Energy Geração rider Salvador “Salvi” Perez, who once again delivered an impeccable performance, dominating the track and winning both MX2 races. In addition, Vitor Borba showed great determination and moved into second place in the overall MX1 standings.
Rainy conditions on Sunday (26) made the track extremely challenging. In MX1, Yamaha showed competitiveness throughout the entire weekend with both teams. In the first moto, the best-placed “Blue Team” rider was Vitor Borba (Yamaha Monster Energy Geração), who finished in fourth position.
Fabio Santos (Yamaha Monster Energy Geração) and Glenn Coldenhoff got out front and led the race, but both suffered crashes and finished P5 and P7 respectively. Paulo Alberto (Yamaha Monster Energy Geração) and Gabriel “Tomate” Soares (Yamaha C6 Bank IMS) also aimed for consistency in a race marked by intense battles, finishing P9 and P14 respectively.
Determined to take his first win of the season, Glenn Coldenhoff grabbed the holeshot and controlled the pace of the race to cross the finish line in first place. Vitor Borba finished the second moto in P5 and consolidated his position as MX1 vice-leader. Paulo Alberto was P6, while Fabio Santos did not finish the race after another crash.

“The conditions were tough, it rained a lot in the first moto and we just kept going, it turned into survival mode and I was lucky to get the holeshot. The team did a great job with some changes to the bike and that definitely worked. It was a shame I crashed in the first moto, I thought it would be a good day, but I’m still happy to have won my first moto in Brazil. It was about time, especially after Canelinha, which was really bad, so I’m happy with this win. Thanks to the team, thanks to everyone back home—there are a lot of people watching from Europe—and I’m really happy.”

“A pretty crazy race this Sunday, with a very heavy track full of mud. In the end, I’m happy to be in second place in the championship. Now it’s about recovering and focusing on next weekend, as we race again.”
Fábio Santos
MX1 – YZ450F
“Ups and downs today. Happy with the start in the first moto, but not happy with the crash. In the second moto, my finger was very painful and I couldn’t hold on to the bike in all that mud. On to the next one.”
Paulo Alberto
MX1 – YZ450F
“It was a very complicated weekend, I wasn’t comfortable on the track, my arm was very swollen and tight. I also had a crash in the first moto which affected the result a bit, and the second moto was all about survival—lots of rain, lots of mud. We finished sixth and that’s it, now it’s time to focus on the next one and go all in.”
With the results from the second round, in addition to Vitor Borba’s second place in the standings, Glenn Coldenhoff moves up to third overall in MX1; Paulo Alberto sits seventh and Fábio Santos is ninth.
Salvi Perez was once again the standout rider in MX2. After a strong opener in Canelinha (SC), the Yamaha Monster Energy Geração rider once again dominated the category. In the first moto, he led from start to finish, managing his advantage well even as the rain arrived and securing the win convincingly.
In the second moto, Perez once again showed consistency and race awareness. After staying among the front-runners, he capitalised on incidents ahead to take the lead and secure another victory. As a result, Salvi now has four wins from four races this season, maintaining a clear lead in the MX2 standings.

“(The second race) was insane, crazy from the start. I didn’t get a good start, but the goggles held up well. When I caught the MX2 leader, I took the goggles off and it became survival mode. But it worked out and I’m very, very happy. I’m also really happy to have won all four races so far—we’ve been working hard for this, and we’re also here to enjoy it.”
