After the British Championship has got underway with the opening two rounds, the SC Sport Homes Husqvarna team supported by Concept and Compac Hire are now in America as the plan for the team is to contest five rounds of the series starting with the next three rounds.
Tristan Purdon from South Africa has plenty of experience racing all around the globe racing multiple MXGP events last season with SS24 Gabriel KTM before singing with SC Sport Homes Husqvarna this year which will see him racing five AMA Nationals.
Charlie Putnam also travels to America for the second round of the AMA National this weekend taking place at Hangtown. Unfortunately, young British talent, Charlie Heyman misses out as he is currently injured but the hope is he can race three rounds of the series.
We caught up with Purdon, Putnam and team manager Neil Prince ahead of the AMA National round this weekend.
Tristan Purdon:
I am really looking forward to this opportunity that the team has given me. It is another dream come true to race AMA Pro Motocross. I am coming in from a positive weekend at Canada Heights at the latest British Championship. I am looking forward to a good race and enjoying myself out there. Going to take every opportunity to learn and do my best.
Charlie Putnam:
I still feel like a little kid when we come over and take on these Americans. I am excited to get rolling with the AMA Nationals and see if we can push up the order. Hangtown is up first, it’s 34 degree heat and 8 hours jet lag so adds a little spice to the challenge! Lets have it!
Neil Prince (Team Manager):
We are back for 5 AMA Nationals this year. We are fortunate to have the Putnam’s, Norm and Clinton, and good sponsors behind us to do this. Tristan Purdon and Charlie Putnam are in for the 450cc class this weekend at Hangtown. We are missing Charlie Heyman who we are hoping will get out with us for last 3 rounds. Also Elliott Banks-Browne is keen to give it a go. Syd Putnam will fly out next week for his Loretta Lynn’s qualifier in Georgia.
