Race One: There was drama during the first couple of laps in the opening race. Sacha Coenen hit the gate which meant he had to start last – fortunately for him there was only fifteen riders.
Meanwhile, Guillem Farres had an aggressive first lap to get himself right to the front. But Simon Längenfelder was charging and riding like the world champion. He made a move on Farres and then pulled away to dominate the race.
Sacha Coenen had a huge crash on the second lap and looked in pain – he couldn’t re-join. We’ll wait and see if he can line up in race two but it’s a huge blow to his championship hopes.
Liam Everts and Camden McLellan were locked together in an exciting battle for third. Just when it looked like Everts did enough to come home in third he made a mistake which allowed the South African to end up in third.
Race Two: Despite his big crash, Sacha Coenen lined up in race two and got the holeshot. The young Belgian was fighting hard but then as soon as Farres passed him he turned left at pitlane and pulled out of the race – clearly in a lot of pain.
Farres made some passes on the first lap and didn’t waste much time to get into first to bring home an impressive race win – he is now 50 points ahead of Camden McLellan in the championship chase!
Everts was in second but had pressure behind from Längenfelder before the German made a mistake which meant he had to be content with third ahead of McLellan.
Karssemakers had a great ride for fifth which was enough for fifth overall!
