Sweden has announced its team for the 2026 Motocross of Nations in Ernée, with Isak Gifting, Alvin Östlund and Alve Callemo set to represent the Scandinavian nation.
Sweden has its team in place for the 2026 Motocross of Nations. Isak Gifting, Alvin Östlund and Alve Callemo will defend the Swedish colours in Ernée on October 3-4, with the aim of continuing the national team’s gradual return among the nations capable of challenging for strong results.
Since 1985, Sweden has been one of the most regular nations at the Motocross of Nations. The Scandinavians have missed just one edition since then – the 1999 event held in Brazil. This longevity demonstrates the Swedish federation’s commitment to the event, despite more inconsistent results in recent years.
However, the Swedish team returned to the top 10 at last year’s edition at Ironman. Finishing seventh overall, they recorded their best result since their last top-five finish at Bellpuig in 2022, when Joakim Karlsson, Jonas Engdahl and Jonny Lindhe represented the country.
For this year’s event, Isak Gifting will represent Sweden in the MXGP class. The JK Racing Yamaha rider is very familiar with the event, as he is set to make his fifth Motocross of Nations appearance. His selection comes after a 2026 season heavily disrupted by injury, with Gifting missing a large part of the MXGP World Championship while recovering physically.
He will be joined in the Open class by Alvin Östlund, who is by far the most experienced member of the trio when it comes to the Motocross of Nations. The Swede is preparing to compete at his 11th consecutive Motocross of Nations. While he is no longer competing full-time in the MXGP World Championship, Östlund did compete at his home GP in Uddevalla this season, where he finished 17th.
He is also currently leading the Swedish Championship while working full-time alongside his racing career.
Finally, Alve Callemo will make his Motocross of Nations debut in the MX2 class. The young Swede has impressed this season in both the EMX250 European Championship and the MX2 World Championship, where he has demonstrated that he has the speed required to compete at international level.
It is worth noting that Callemo has competed in the two championships with two different structures this year – Young Motion in MX2 and his own team in EMX250.
With Gifting returning from injury, the highly experienced Östlund and Callemo making his Motocross of Nations debut, Sweden will field a trio combining experience and youth in Ernée.
After finishing seventh at Ironman last year, the Scandinavian team will now look to build on that momentum in Mayenne.
