There could be major changes on the horizon in the MXGP paddock for the 2026 season, with strong rumours suggesting that Louis Vosters could be set to take over the reins of Ducati’s MXGP effort.
Since parting ways with Yamaha, Vosters has made an impressive transition running the factory Fantic setup in MXGP. Now in their second year with the brand, they started the 2024 season with an all-Dutch rider line-up consisting of Roan van de Moosdijk and Glenn Coldenhoff. Following an early season split with van de Moosdijk, Brian Bogers was brought in as a fill-in and quickly impressed, earning himself a spot for the 2025 season.
For 2025, Factory Fantic retained both Bogers and Coldenhoff while also bringing in rising Italian talent Andrea Bonacorsi, creating a strong three-rider MXGP line-up. The team has been performing well and continuing to establish themselves as a serious force in the paddock.
However, it’s understood that big changes are coming in 2026. Ducati, currently in their first full MXGP season with the Maddii Racing team, are expected to shift their factory operation. While Maddii played a key role in developing the Desmo450 MX bike during the Italian Championship last year, Ducati are believed to be eyeing Vosters to take over the MXGP effort from 2026 onward.
Ducati already have Jeremy Seewer under contract for the 2026 season, and the team also hold an option to retain Mattia Guadagnini—though it’s unclear if that will be exercised. It’s even possible Ducati could field three riders in MXGP next season, aligning with Vosters current structure.
It has already been confirmed that Beddini Racing will run Ducati’s MX2 World Championship program starting in 2026. They’re on the market for two riders for that project to start next year. Alessandro Lupino has been central to the development of Ducati’s MX2 bike throughout 2025 while competing in the Italian Championship.
Should Vosters indeed make the move to Ducati, questions naturally arise about the future of Fantic’s MXGP program. The Dutchman has done an exceptional job with the project, and losing his structure would be a significant setback.
As things stand, no official announcements have been made, but the paddock buzz suggests a shake-up could be on the way.
