Race results: MXGP World Championship RD3 – Prado perfect at Riola

For a change it wasn’t Jorge Prado who got the holeshot in race one as Jeremy Seewer grabbed the holeshot on his Kawasaki.

Prado though didn’t waste much time getting to the start as he was leading after a couple of corners. Tim Gajser got a pretty good start and quickly followed Prado passing Seewer.

Gajser kept Prado honest with the gap around three seconds for the majority of the race. With three laps to go Gajser closed the gap down to just under two seconds but then Prado upped it to pull away again to take another impressive race win.

Jeffrey Herlings is riding with a sore rib after a crash yesterday in practice and didn’t get the best of starts but he was able to pass the likes of Coldenhoff, Vlaanderen and Jonass to finish a lonely third position.

Romain Febvre was dead last at the start so had to charge through the field and push hard – not ideal with the humidity and brutal track but he rode well to come through to sixth.

Glenn Coldenhoff rode well to pass Jonass for fourth on his Fantic. Brian Bogers also rode well on his MXGP return for eighth ahead of Ben Watson.

In the second moto, the first half was an exciting affair. Jorge Prado got the holeshot but Jeffrey Herlings was right there – yes, he got a good start! Gajser needed to make a couple of passes and was six seconds behind when he got into third.

There wasn’t much to split Prado and Herlings, it was looking like the last ten minutes was going to be exciting but then Herlings lost the front which was a real shame! It was a small crash but he dropped down to third and was miles back.

Gajser was riding really well but couldn’t close the gap down to the superb Prado who is undefended this season.

Febvre had another terrible start but got himself back to fifth behind Jonass.
