MX2 World Championship – enthralling title fight!

It always looked like Kay de Wolf was in control of the MX2 title this season until Ernee. But his unfortunate day in France and the scintillating performance of Simon Längenfelder and return to form of Andrea Adamo, mean a title fight really is on with De Wolf now third in the championship and having to hit attack mode from this weekend in Germany, Längenfelder’s home round!

Längenfelder looks to have went to another level this year and found the missing piece – being able to win regularly. At Ernee he won moto one by being in a different league to the rest and in moto two he handled immense pressure from Andrea Adamo to have the perfect day and leave with the real plate. This could be the moment that solidifies Simon’s belief in himself, he isn’t just happy with podiums anymore, he wants wins, and he proved to himself in France he can dominate and deal with pressure to get the job done either way.

Längenfelder, after years of promise, is now showing his true potential, a wonderful talent with brilliant technique similar to Jorge Prado and Jett Lawrence, he has found that last 5% he needs to get wins consistently, it looks like he has the self belief now to be world champion.

Of course Andrea Adamo knows how to win a title, he has done it before and, while he is undoubtedly better than last year, this might well be the best form of his career. The speed is there every week and so is the confidence, he already proved when he won the title that he can deliver under pressure in crunch time with consistency. Adamo knows what is required down the stretch in the second half of this season.

Both riders have the credentials to win in 2026, but they still have to beat sensational talent of Dutch wizard, Kay De Wolf. Up until now De Wolf has been very smart, making the best of bad situations and winning when it was there while letting others make the mistakes. But now, after anything that could go wrong did go wrong in Ernee, De Wolf has to respond. We all know just how amazing de Wolf is on a bike and he will have to unleash all that talent on the track from Germany on. Get ready for De Wolf’s full sheer of speed because he has to hit back and show he is the alpha in the class.

Liam Everts DNF in Arco really hurt his momentum but he is still hovering around in fourth keeping a watching brief and is there if anything happens the top three but, for now, it is Adamo and Längenfelder trying to dethrone Kay De Wolf, they have taken the momentum after France but the champ will not go down without a fight, he will be more motivated than ever now.

Expect Kay de Wolf to hit back in Germany in front of Längenfelder’s home fans – this is a title fight that is about to come to boiling point!
