Max Spies signs MXGP deal for 2023

Max Spies has revealed that he’s secured an MXGP ride for the 2023 season. The young German will make the move up from the EMX250 class to contest the MXGP World Championship (European rounds) on the 450cc.

Spies despite being young is tall and quite heavy for the 250cc so the change to the 450cc should suit him perfectly.

Tom Koch has had some good rides on the Kosak KTM in MXGP this year and did enough to get selected for Team Germany at the MXoN but it remains to be seen if he will stay with the team for the 2023 season to partner Spies.

“I am looking forward to starting for Kosak in 2023 and am highly motivated for the new season. After a short winter break, I will prepare for the new year on the KTM 450 SX-F 2023,” says Maximilian Spies.

Team Manager Kevin Gödderz: “Max will ride his first year on the 450 in 2023 and start at the MX Masters and MXGP. Max has already gained international experience at EMX and won the EMX2T Championship in 2021. In 2022, the Brandenburger finished the EMX250 championship in 9th place and is currently in 2nd place in the ADAC MX YOUNGSTER CUP championship. We are delighted with the new addition and look forward to working with them.”

Team boss Herbert Kosak: “I’m looking forward to the new rider in the team. Max was already strong on the 125 and on the 250. I think switching to the “big” bike won’t be a problem for him. We are looking forward to the new season and look forward to working together.”
