Injury update: Max Nagl out for the rest of the season

Max Nagl’s 2026 season has come to an early end after the experienced German suffered another injury setback.

The Triumph rider initially picked up an injury at the latest round of the ADAC MX Masters series, forcing him onto the sidelines. After making encouraging progress in his recovery, Nagl had recently returned to riding and was aiming to make his comeback at the next round of the championship.

However, his plans have now been put on hold after suffering a new injury, this time to his left knee.

The latest setback means Nagl has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 season, bringing a frustrating campaign to a premature conclusion.

At 38 years of age, the injury inevitably raises questions about his future in the sport. Nagl has enjoyed an outstanding career and has continued to prove he can run at the front despite competing against riders much younger than himself.

Whether this marks the end of his racing career remains to be seen, but motocross fans will certainly be hoping the German decides to return in 2027 and once again battle at the front of the field.

Nagl posted the following update on social media:

It’s a difficult one but I would like to announce that my 2026 season has come to a painful end.
On Wednesday during testing unfortunately I injured my left knee. The extent of the injury is not clear yet, for sure some ligaments torn and I will have a better picture by Tuesday after an MRI scan and consultation with a specialist. I will have to have a surgery probably.

I’m sorry for my team, sponsors and fans for a incomplete season. Thanks for everybody standing by me and thanks for my girlfriend for everything she does for me in the last couple of weeks with all my injuries.
