Eli Tomac on his bucket list race: Lommel!

Vital MX were in the AMA paddock like usual at the weekend and decided to ask some riders what race/event they have on their bucket list.

Eli Tomac said he’d like to go and ride at Lommel.

“Well, I should probably wish what I wish for… but I wish we had a couple more sand tracks on our Motocross series. So… Lommel. As much of a misery it sounds. I would probably get smoked but it is something I would like to go and ride on”, Tomac revealed.

Fair play to Tomac for looking outside America.

As amazing as it would be, it does seem pretty unlikely Tomac will ever race an MXGP World Championship at Lommel and is even unlikely to race the AMA Nationals in 2024. But perhaps he’ll end up in Lommel some day to do a few laps at the track on a practice day.

We asked Tomac after team USA had their success at the RedBud MXoN about the prospect of racing the MXGP World Championship in future and he did rule it out racing a full series – perhaps a wildcard round at Lommel in the future needs to be arranged if it did interest him.

“For me no unfortunately, the other guys you never know! Thankfully we have this race (MXoN), there is always the question of who’s better so it’s very cool to have this event”.

Nate Thrasher also stated he’d like to race Motocross des Nations event and the race is on his bucket list… but only in America!

“I guess the MX of Nations would be cool, for sure. That would be a bucket list item for me, in America though”, Thrasher stated.

Jordon Smith is also keen to race the MXoN for team America and said he’d be there for sure if selected but acknowledged he hasn’t had the results outdoors to be selected for his country yet.
