Injury update: Max Nagl receives encouraging news

Max Nagl has shared an update on his condition following the crash he suffered at Tensfeld during the first moto on Saturday. Initial examinations brought fears of a serious neck injury, with doctors believing he had sustained two broken vertebrae. However, after further tests and consultations, there was positive news as Nagl was informed that his neck was not broken and his neck brace could be removed. He will now return home for additional examinations and continue his recovery under the care of his own doctors.

Nagl posted the following message on social media after day one in Tensfeld:

“Thank you all for your messages and best wishes. After the crash yesterday I felt something is really not good. At the hospital after the first exams I was told that two vertebra is broken, one in the neck and one at chest height.

Today the doctors had another exam and consultation and I was told that luckily my neck is not broken so they could also remove the neck brace. For further tests I will now go home to my doctors. Thanks a lot for my team and the emergency crew to do their best and also the doctors at the Neumunster hospital!”

Nagl has since posted the following update on social media – he is expecting to be back at the next round of the series in August:

“First of all again I would like to thank everybody wishing me well. It’s impossible to answer so many messages but I’m grateful!

“Today I had a second evaluation in Herentals by Dr. Claes and luckily it seems like that only my T4 vertebra might have a slight crack, everything else seems fine. Of course I got bruised and a lot of my body hurts but now there is plenty time for a full recovery.

“I don’t want to think about the championship standing at the moment. I’ve put in a lot of effort, training and energy and with my riding so far, my bike and the team around me I could hold the red plate from the first race on. It’s hard to accept the change, especially that I had no control over the situation which was a series of unfortunate events.

“Thanks for everybody helping me, my team, my sponsors, my parents, my girlfriend and of course all the friends and fans. See you in Gaildorf”.
