Jason Clermont to contest AMA Supercross in 2024

It’s been almost four years since Jason Clermont last tried his luck on the American Supercross circuit; and he’s about to change that in 2024.

French National 450 champion this season, currently 6th on the SX Tour 450 championship, and top-10 finisher in his appearances on the French Elite championship, Jason Clermont is about to fly to the USA to compete in 5 of the first 6 rounds of the 2024 AMA Supercross season on the West Coast: Anaheim 1, San Francisco, San Diego, Anaheim 2 and Glendale. Jason will not be able to line up in the Detroit event – scheduled on February 3rd – which opens the season for the riders on the East Coast.

At the beginning of December, Jason Clermont will fly to the USA – with his partner – to prepare for 4 weeks on site, with the help of Yannig Kervella. This will be a first for Jason, who in the past has often landed on American soil just a few days before taking the plunge into the AMA Supercross Championship. Jason plans to buy a 450 KX-F on site, and rent a van to get around to the five events on his calendar before returning to France to defend his French National 450 title, take part in a few Elites, and once again challenge for the top spots in the SX Tour series.

Jason rode some Supercross rounds in the US in 2015, 2018 and 2020, and he’ll be back at it again in 2024. Bricklayer during the week, racer on the weekends, Jason has been tightening his belt all year long to be able to conquer the West once again. With the help of a handful of partners and friends, he has budgeted €25,000 to take part in 5 rounds of the AMA Supercross championship, with the primary aim of having fun, qualifying for the evening programs and, why not, going for the Holy Grail: get a ticket to access a main even; he had already achieved the latter at the San Diego Supercross, in 2020.

The Kawasaki rider wasn’t riding at the Paris Supercross this weekend, as he wasn’t selected by the promoter despite ranking sixth on the SX Tour. However, he will be back in Lyon for the last two finals of the French Supercross season, before flying off to California. We’ll be keeping a close eye on his American adventure.
