Team Ireland have confirmed the appointment of Emma Wray as their new team manager ahead of the 2026 Coupe de l’Avenir, with Wray taking over the role from Wayne Garrett as preparations begin for one of the biggest youth Motocross events of the year.
Wray has already built strong relationships within Irish motocross through her involvement in the Elite Development Programme, where she has worked closely with many of the country’s most promising young riders and their families over the past year. That experience has helped pave the way for her new role leading Team Ireland at the prestigious international event.
“I have been working with a good few the youth riders for over a year now through the Elite development program, building good relationships with the kids and the parents so I feel that’s helped put me in the position for the role”, Wray told GateDrop.com.
Having closely followed the progress of Ireland’s emerging talent over recent seasons, Wray is excited to experience the Coupe de l’Avenir for the first time and support the riders throughout the event.
“I have followed a lot the youth riders results and journeys over the last couple years so I’m looking forward to being there in person and getting to experience and enjoy the event with everyone”.
While results are always important, Wray’s focus is firmly on creating a positive environment where every rider can perform to the best of their ability while representing Team Ireland with pride.
“A great team atmosphere and 100% effort from all the riders, that’s all we can ask and hope for. It will be the first time for me at the event and I can’t wait”, Wray concluded.
With a fresh voice at the helm and strong connections already established with many of the riders, Team Ireland will be hoping for a successful and memorable outing at the 2026 Coupe de l’Avenir in Belgium.
