South Africa have officially named their squad for the 2026 Motocross of Nations at Ernée, with just one change from the line-up that represented the country last year.
Tristan Purdon comes into the team and will line up alongside the in-form Camden McLellan and Slade Smith, giving South Africa a strong trio as they aim for an impressive result on French soil.
McLellan heads into the event enjoying the best season of his career. The Factory Triumph rider has claimed two MX2 Grand Prix victories in 2026 and remains in championship contention, meaning he’ll arrive at the Motocross of Nations full of confidence and highly motivated to help South Africa challenge for a top-ten finish.
There had also been hopes that Calvin Vlaanderen could represent South Africa at this year’s event. However, despite attempts to make it happen, the FIM will not release him for the 2026 edition. Under the current regulations, a change of sporting nationality must be completed at the beginning of the year, meaning a switch could instead become possible ahead of the 2027 season.
With McLellan in outstanding form, the experience of Purdon and the talent of Smith, South Africa will believe they have a line-up capable of making an impact at the prestigious annual event in Ernée.
