Roczen crowned 2023 WSX champion!

Ken Roczen rode smart in all three motos to work his way through the field to retain his WSX championship at Melbourne and give Suzuki a world title!

Roczen worked his way past Savatgy and Friese to win race one with some smart moves, Savatgy took third leaving Roczen and Savatgy tied on points heading into moto two. But that only lasted until the first turn and a wipe out by Vince Freise on Joey Savatgy wrecked the tension as Roczen worked his way into the lead with Aranda a fine second as Friese went backwards with a back wheel problem, potentially from the contact with Savatgy who could only work his way back to tenth.

Roczen and Savatgy both had bad starts in race three but Roczen worked his way back to third passing Savatgy with Colt Nicholls ending his season on a high with the moto win!

Roczen, who had to ride his spare bike after issues with his race bike yesterday, said: “We put in a lot of work and that ended yp paying off. We had some adersity to push through, but we give it everything we have and tonight it was enough for the championship.”

Second in the series. Savatgy, who previously lost a title by getting knocked down by Zach Osborne, said: “It’s unfortunate for things to unfold the way they did. I knew I was at a disadvantage coming into this, I gave it my best, I needed better starts. I haven’t seen the video, so I don’t want to say too much but it’s unfortunate when most of us can race relatively okay except for one guys. Hats off to Ken, the guy is really good, I knew it was going to be hard to beat him coming into this.”
