The British Championship at Lyng will have an international flavour this weekend, with South African brothers, Cameron and Tristan Durow making the trip to the UK to test themselves in the British Championship. Their visit won’t be limited to just one round either, as both riders are also set to line up at Landrake as they look to maximise track time and experience on British soil.
Cameron, the more experienced of the two, arrives with a solid résumé that includes appearances in AMA Pro Motocross. Lining up in the MX1 class, he will be aiming to make an immediate impact and run at the sharp end of the field. Meanwhile, younger brother Tristan will contest the MX2 class, focusing on development, consistency, and gaining valuable experience that could benefit his long-term ambitions.
Cameron Durow:
“The opportunity came up for us to race in the UK this year so we decided to race some British Championship races because the competition is really good and I’ve always wanted to have the opportunity to race here in the UK. We are staying with some friends and Chambers Racing is assisting us with bikes for the races. These two things made racing here possible for us. It is really cool that it all came together”.
“My expectations for the races is to run up front. I’m here to be in the mix and make improvements every weekend. I will give it my best go, enjoy some new tracks and new racing. Currently I don’t have plans to race any more events in Europe but of course any opportunity is welcome. As it stands the plan is; after Landrake I head home for two weeks and then I’m going to go and do 4 of the AMA outdoors. These races will be great preparation”.
Tristan Durow:
“I’ve decided to race the British Championship this weekend at Lyng as part of building consistency and experience here in the UK. My expectations are to put together solid results and keep improving each round while adapting to the tracks and conditions”.
“At the moment I don’t have any races planned in Europe however I do have my sights set on the South African MXGP in the MX2 World Championship. It’s amazing that MXGP is coming to South Africa and competing in the event would be unreal. My focus is on MXGB at Lyng and Landrake, using these races to get the best results possible while establishing a base in the UK for future European racing opportunities”.
With clear goals and a structured plan in place, the Durow brothers are making the most of their UK stint. Cameron is chasing front-running results against top-tier competition, while Tristan is building the foundations for future success. Together, their British Championship campaign offers both immediate ambition and long-term vision as they continue to carve out their paths in international motocross.
