Webb: I’ve got to get back to old Coop!

Cooper Webb, in an honest and revealing interview on PulpMX, thinks he has been too nice this year and wants to get back to old Coop!

That was already evident in the press conference when Cooper took a couple of shots at old adversary Roczen: “It’s like Ken said, the lappers were brutal. Yeah, so like, you know, it wasn’t just him. I’m sure he’ll watch that and see that.”

Then when asked about battling with Roczen late, something Webb has been used to winning historically, Webb commented: “I mean, I think we know Kenny gets late in the race how he is. So I started catching him there at the end and, you know, just kind of ran out of time. Shorter main event didn’t help us tonight.”

Webb shed more light on his mentality after the race on the PulpMX show, saying: “It’s like the kids are saying right now, remember who you are, white boy? I got beat by my rival, so I’m pissed. You know, that was one that I was just frickin’ right there, right? And I do think, I mean, obviously gotta take my cap off to Kenny, but I’ve had him in that wheelhouse before, right? And, you know, it was a little late, right? Like I gave myself basically one lap on his wheel, as opposed to maybe, you know, lurking a little bit more like in past races. So I think that was more or less kind of what it was and I had made a mistake the last lap, missed a jump. So just kind of mad at myself.”

“I mean, we’ve all been very respectful this year and we’re congratulating each other on races and this and that right after the race. And I kind of was like, you know what, screw that. Like the guy just kicked my ass. I ain’t frickin’, you know, giving him a hug and all, I shook his hand, told him great ride on the podium. But like I said, I got to get back to maybe old Coop, you know?

Let’s see if old Coop comes to the party at the last two rounds – watch the full interview below:
