Adrien Petit has been one of the standout riders in the EMX250 championship so far this season. Despite racing as a privateer, the French rider has impressed on his Yamaha two-stroke machine and currently holds the championship leader’s red plate after two rounds.

However, his season has taken an unexpected turn following his decision to withdraw from the French Elite Championship. Petit competed in the first two rounds of the domestic series, but the second round saw him involved in a nasty crash after coming together with another rider. Following this incident, he has now announced that he will no longer take part in the championship, citing concerns that the series no longer aligns with the values of the sport.

Petit’s Statement:

“End of the French Championship for me. It is with great regret that I take the decision to withdraw from the French Championship. After several years of participation, I would have liked to go to the end of this season, but the current environment no longer corresponds to the values of the sport I love. Beyond the competition, what matters to me is respect, fair play and safety on the court. Unfortunately, some recent behaviours have me thinking I don’t belong in this championship. So, I’ve decided to concentrate on the European championship, which is my main focus. I would like to state that fortunately I was ok with the fall at the end of the moto. Thanks to everyone who supports me, see you on the European stage!”

With Petit now fully focused on the European scene, it will be interesting to see if he can maintain his strong form and challenge for the EMX250 title.
