After an eventful start to the 2025 season, Spaniard Oriol Oliver has announced his departure from the BTS KTM team. Oliver has had good performances in both the MX2 World Championship and the Dutch Masters of Motocross.
Oliver made the switch to BTS KTM for the 2025 campaign after several years with WZ KTM. Following the first three rounds of the MX2 World Championship, he currently sits in thirteenth place in the championship standings. His momentum seemed to be building after securing a podium finish at the opening round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross at the weekend.
However, despite the promising results, Oliver has now confirmed that he has parted ways with BTS KTM due to financial difficulties within the team. A last-minute withdrawal of a key sponsor appears to have left the Spaniard without a ride, casting uncertainty over his future. The timing of the split is far from ideal, as 2025 marks Oliver’s final year in the MX2 World Championship due to the U23 age rule.
Oliver remains determined to continue chasing his dream and has expressed his motivation to keep fighting for opportunities in the sport. He shared the following message regarding his departure:
Oriol Oliver’s Statement:
Hello everyone, This isn’t the message I’d like to be writing, but right now it’s a reality. My team and I had to part ways because a last-minute drop of one of the main sponsors, and right now I find myself free, without a team. Although it’s not easy, I remain fully motivated and I’m not going to throw in the towel. This dream remains intact and I’ll put every part of me on this. I thank the team for the support these months. I hope you hear more about me soon.
As Oliver navigates this unexpected setback, the motocross community will be watching closely to see what his next move will be. Given his talent and recent form, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him land another opportunity before the season progresses much further. One thing is for certain – Oliver is not ready to give up on his racing ambitions just yet.
