A big weekend awaits Triumph Racing – debut time!

At the 2022 Motocross des Nations at RedBud, Ricky Carmichael and Triumph held a press conference to confirm they’d be entering the Motocross world. At the time, it was only confirmed they’d be entering the MX2 World Championship in 2024 and then MXGP in 2025 but RC didn’t rule out the brand entering the AMA Supercross series either.

It has all come together and with the way it has worked out Triumph will end up making their Supercross debut before their Motocross GP debut.

This weekend, the new manufacturer will be making their East coast 250SX debut with Jalek Swoll and Evan Ferry under the awning. Swoll has made the switch from Factory Husqvarna as Ferry will be stepping up from the amateur ranks to pro racing.

Joey Savatgy has also been signed by the American Triumph team but he’s ineligible to race the 250SX class so we will to wait until the AMA Nationals before we see him race with the new bike.

The Motocross GP season might not start until March but Triumph will also make their Motocross debut this weekend albeit at a lower level than AMA SX and the MX2 World Championship but they’ll contest the opening round of the Spanish Championship at Talavera.

Camden McLellan and Mikkel Haarup have been signed up by the Triumph MX2 GP team. McLellan has made the switch from JM Honda whilst Haarup secures another factory ride after spells with DRT Kawasaki and WZ KTM last year. It is a big opportunity for the Dane to remind us all of his talents.

The pair have been putting plenty of laps in during the pre-season in Spain and the first race will be invaluable in terms of testing and development. The pair have been under the watchful eye of former multiple GP winner, Clement Desalle who has played a key role in developing the bike.

Kay de Wolf and the Coenen Twins will be in action in Spain this weekend which means the bike will still go up against factory bikes so it’ll be interesting to see how competitive it currently is.

New brands are always welcome in the sport and this weekend all of Triumph’s hard work is about to come to fruition.
