The final round of the Irish Motocross Championship is set to take place at Mountain Quarter MX on September the 12th and 13th, with the adult classes racing on Sunday, September the 13th.
With the event now less than a fortnight away, a number of riders from England are set to make the trip across the Irish Sea to contest the final round of the championship, adding further strength to what is already shaping up to be an exciting finale.
The SevenSeven2 Ride Kawasaki riders Tristan Purdon and Joel Rizzi have now confirmed they will both make the trip over and line up for the Irish Championship.
Purdon has been a regular presence at the sharp end of the MX1 British Championship since joining the Kawasaki outfit and currently sits fifth in the championship standings with one round remaining. The South African will also have another major event on his calendar shortly afterwards, as he is set to represent South Africa at the 2026 Motocross des Nations.
For Rizzi, the Irish Championship will provide another opportunity to get valuable race time under his belt. The 250cc rider challenged for the MX2 British Championship title a couple of years ago and currently sits seventh in this year’s championship standings.
Speaking ahead of the trip, Purdon is looking forward to experiencing the Irish Championship for the first time.
“I’m really looking forward to heading over to Ireland to race a round of the Irish Championship. I’ve never been over that side of the pond before, so it’ll be a new experience and one I’m excited for. It’ll be good to get another gate drop under my belt and race against some strong competition as well. The track looks really good so I’m looking forward to getting out there and racing it”, Purdon told GateDrop.com.
Rizzi will also head to Ireland with a new engine and sees the event as a good opportunity to test his latest setup.
“I am really looking forward to coming over to race the Irish Championship. The track looks fun and I’m on a new engine so it will be a good tester for me to see where it’s at. I hope to see plenty of good riders and fans there as well”, Rizzi told GateDrop.com.
With Taylor Hammal and Josh Gilbert also already confirmed for the event, the entry list is continuing to take shape, with further riders expected to be announced before the event.
The final round of the Irish Championship at Mountain Quarter MX is therefore set to welcome a strong field, with more British riders expected to make the trip across for what promises to be a fitting finale to the season.
