After an amazing performance at the AusXOpen that saw him nearly win the final moto against Hunter Lawrence just a week after dislocating his shoulder at WSX, Dean Wilson has announced he will not be lining up on Wednesday for the final WSX round at Abu Dhabi.
After his heroics in Melbourne on Saturday night, Wilson says the shoulder is sore and he didn’t feel safe on track, so with only a couple of days to recover it is no surprise he won’t be racing on the 4th of December, hopefully Dean can get the strength back and compete for an AX UK title in January.
Wilson said he pushed through the paid on Saturday night as an example for his son: “Gave it all I had last night. I felt very weak on the bike and didn’thave a lot of strength but we managed to get through and surprised myself with a P-3 on the night & secured 2nd in championship.
“I wasn’t even sure if I could ride after dislocating my shoulder 6 days ago but thank you to Dr John Park for taping me up & also Dr Craig for the help. Sometimes you just have to prove to yourself that your not a wimp and can make it happen no matter the circumstances and set the example to my wee boy that when the goin gets tough the tough gets going 💪
I fell short of the championship which is a bummer but it was not for a lack of effort. Congrats Joey on that he rode well all season. Thank you to my team my wife & mechanic Craig for all there hard work. I will be pulling out of Abu Dahbi WSX to rehab my shoulder. Last night was very tough & sore on it and I just did not feel safe out there. Thank you all for the support.”
