Race results: WMX RD6 – Duncan clinches fourth world title in Turkey

Race One: It was Courtney Duncan who led on the opening lap and started to pull away at the front of the pack to take a dominate race win consistently putting in 1.58 lap times at a very dry race track in Turkey. It was all going on behind Duncan as Papenmeier who travelled to Turkey not even knowing if she could ride with a thumb injury but she just showed how tough she is. The German had a lot of pressure from behind as Guillen was all over her for the majority of the moto but Papenmeier rode superb to finish an impressive second. On the final lap, Van Drunen was Lynn Valk went at it in what was a great battle, Van Drunen thought she found her way into fourth before Valk passed her back.

Race Two: After the track was left under water after so much rain yesterday, the track crew did the best they could to get rid of any excess water but it was still a slippery ride this morning for the second WMX moto. Lynn Valk wasn’t too worried about that though as she got the holeshot and dominated in demanding tricky conditions. Duncan started in second before Anderson passed her but towards the end the Kiwi was able to pass her back to take second and win her fourth WMX title – congrats to her and Steve Dixon. Papenmeier ended up fourth for third overall and the final step on the podium – she had been thinking about retirement but that might just entice her to come back in 2024 for another year of racing!
