It’s been a frustrating start to the season for young Dutch talent Cas Valk. After beginning the year with TM, Valk recently parted ways with the Italian manufacturer before securing a new opportunity with Chambers KTM.
However, just as things appeared to be heading in the right direction, disaster struck at Markelo. Riding only his second race back on a KTM machine, Valk showed impressive speed by setting the fastest qualifying time in his session before suffering a heavy crash.
The incident has resulted in a broken leg for the Dutch rider, who has already undergone surgery. His focus will now turn towards recovery and rehabilitation, although it remains unclear whether he will be able to return before the end of the season.
The injury also comes as a major setback for the Chambers KTM team, who were looking forward to officially welcoming Valk under the awning this weekend in France. The event was set to mark his first Grand Prix appearance with the team before the unfortunate injury put those plans on hold.
Valk posted the following update on social media:
“Unfortunately I had a crash yesterday and broke my leg, it’s a shame as I was feeling really good these last couple of weeks with the new team. Luckily I have great people around me so the recovery starts directly to be back a soon as possible! Thanks to everyone for the messages. I’ll come back stronger”
