Race One: Lucas Coenen got the holeshot and never looked back as he was in complete control at the front of the field. Jeffrey Herlings started in fourth but was able to pass Tom Vialle and Andrea Adamo to get into second but by that time Coenen had a six seconds lead.
Tim Gajser didn’t get a good start but worked his way into third with Kay de Wolf fourth. Andrea Adamo rode well to come home in fifth.
Both Maxime Renaux and Romain Febvre had crashes before coming home in sixth and seventh respectively.
Race Two: There was a red flag after Tom Vialle had a big crash and his bike took out Tim Gajser at the start. In the restart both riders weren’t allowed to restart with their spare bikes.
When the gate dropped for the restart, Herlings and Coenen got out together and shadowed each other the entire race settling a sensational pace around a track that was totally destroyed. Coenen tried but Herlings held on for the win – he was clearly tired after the race and said he’s happy not to ride tomorrow – that’s when you know he is shattered when he doesn’t want to ride a bike! But it was 115 GP victories for him.
Febvre came home in second to secure a podium in front of his home crowd.
