Gines Alacid set the pace in the first 65cc qualifying group. Valters Jurcenko from Latvia was second fastest ahead of impressive British talent, Jack Waters.
Brendan McAreavey from Ireland put in a good lap to qualify in fourteenth.
In group two, Bas Verspaandonk from the Netherlands set the pace over French talent, Lucas Bos. Tommy Wood on team GB was third fastest.
Sadly the other Irish riders will be going to the LCQ tomorrow – Caleb Duffy came closest to qualifying from group B in twenty-second.
