Race One: It was Jeremy Seewer who grabbed the holeshot on a track that is now pretty much dry over so much overnight rain.On the first lap Romain Febvre and Maxime Renaux quickly passed the Swiss rider. The Kawasaki rider was looking good at the front but had Maxime Renaux for company who was looking good as well.
However, Renaux made a big mistake going off track but it could have been much worse. He was able to re-join in second but lost too much time to Febvre. Gajser got a bad start but made passes to get into third. Renaux started to back off the pace but still had three seconds back to Gajser until a back marker got in his way with a couple of laps to go – the French rider held on for second though.
Mattia Guadagnini rode a superb racing passing his Ducati team mate to come home in a strong fourth. Glenn Coldenhoff got a bad start but was able to make passes to get himself up to fifth.
There were two Ducati’s in the top six as Jeremy Seewer came home sixth ahead of Lucas Coenen who battled through the pain to get seventh – a great ride under the circumstances.
Race Two: Renaux got the holeshot in race two and never looked back. He ran into the distance and by the time Febvre passed Guadagnini for second, he was gone. Gajser got into third but couldn’t do anything about Febvre ahead of him. Credit to Guadagnini who came home in fourth for fourth overall on his Ducati GP debut.
Guillod rode a superb race on a stock bike ending up fifth – superb! Horgmo didn’t get the best of starts but came through to sixth with Coenen fading back to eighth. Coldenhoff had a crash so had to be content for sixth on his Fantic.
Renaux leads the championship heading into Cozar for round two.
