Race results: EMX250 RD1 – Lata wins in Spain

The opening EMX250 moto started with the VRT Yamaha riders at the front – they were 1-2-3 on the opening lap with Karlis Reisulis leading the way. Cas Valk was on the move as he was fifth on the first lap and had worked his way into second before an off track excursion which dropped him back to sixth!

Valerio Lata was on the move – he was sixth on lap one but stayed patient before passing the impressive Reisluis for the win. Mathis Valin was mighty impressive as he ended up third on his BUD Kawasaki and EMX250 debut.

Maxime Grau got caught up in a first lap pile up but came from last to seventh – he was flying.

The EMX250 second moto went right down to the wire in terms of the overall win. Valin got a great start on his BUD Kawasaki and simply dominated – what a ride!

It also looked like he’d win the overall as Valerio Lata had an early crash and was then sat in fourth but with three laps to go he put the hammer down passing Van Erp and Reisulis to take the overall. Karlis Reisulis would have still been on the box but then his bike wouldn’t start – heart breaking for the young Latvian. Van Erp was then gifted a podium with third overall.

Bradley Mesters rode great for fifth on his Kosak KTM.

Cas Valk had a terrible start and looked to had issues during the race before coming home in ninteenth.
