It has been confirmed that Italian talent, Andrea Bonacorsi won’t be travelling overseas for the final two rounds of the MXGP World Championship – due to food poisoning picked up in Turkey.
The fact he is out for the last two MXGP rounds, could also mean his spot on the Italian MXoN team is also under threat.
Ducati confirmed the news with the following press release:
“Andrea Bonacorsi will miss the last two rounds of the MXGP World Championship in China and Australia. The Bergamo-native rider was already forced to sit out race 2 of the Turkish GP due to food poisoning which debilitated him from Saturday in Afyonkarahisar”.
“Having not yet completely recovered from this, Andrea, together with the Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP Team, has decided to forgo the very demanding double header in Shanghai and Darwin to try and get back into the right shape, and he has gone back to Italy to undergo further assessments.”
Bonacorsi posted a recent update on social media:
“This season hasn’t gone the way we imagined it would so far. And honestly, there have been moments that have tested me more than anything I’ve faced before. A lot has happened, both on and off the racing track. More emotions, more challenges, more battles than I ever expected to face in one season. But that’s sport. Not every battle goes your way. Not every weekend gives you the result you worked for. And that doesn’t mean we failed. You learn. You adapt. You take responsibility. You go back to work and you try again”.
“There’s no point looking for someone or something to blame. We all have things we can do better and I’m the first one to look at myself. What people see is only a small part of the story. There are battles that happen behind the scenes, moments that nobody sees, and days when continuing to believe is the hardest part. But we’re still here. Still working.
