Race One: It was Filippo Mantovani who was leading around the first corner but it was Nicolo Alvisi who was on the charge. He quickly got himself into the lead and started to pull away at the front. There was some chaos around the first corner which saw Mano Faure involved and had to come from last.
Meanwhile at the front, Alvisi had a crash which allowed Mantovani to get back to the lead. But Alvisi was able to pass him again to take the win. His team mate, Aron Katona wasn’t having the best of moto’s but had worked his way back into the top ten after a bad start but then he had bike issues meaning a DNF. It means they’re both now tied at the top of the championship.
Faure also had a DNF after further problems after getting himself into the top fifteen.
McCullough got a good start and was in third before Kubulins made a move but then the Latvian made some mistakes so McCullough could get his third back. A great ride in difficult conditions. Pini also rode well to bring home a fourth with Gregoire rounding out the top five.
Jamie Keith finished tenth on his first EMX125 race back – solid!
Race Two: After overnight rain (of course it rained!) things were slippery for the EMX125 riders. Oppliger grabbed the holeshot and was starting to pull away at the front but then had a small crash which allowed Alvisi get to the front and the Italian never looked back to go 1-1 – the first of his career!
Pini had a great ride to finish second to get himself on the podium even though he had Faure for company towards the end but he held on. Mantovani finished fourth to round off an all Italian podium!
Liam Bruneau was consistent going 7-8 for fourth overall and the best placed French rider. Vencislav Toshev went 11-7 to take fifth overall.
McCullough was buried after the first corner which left him with a lot of work to do, he got up as high as twelfth before a mistake meant he lost a few positions but then towards the end he came together with Katona which was a disaster for the Hungarian – no points!
Alvisi now has the championship lead and takes the red plate.
