Roan van de Moosdijk wrapped up his 2026 ADAC MX Masters campaign in strong fashion at Vellahn, but the Dutch rider is already looking ahead to the next challenge.
With the championship secured, van de Moosdijk has continued to put in the work ahead of this weekend’s Motocross des Nations at Ernée, where he will represent Team Netherlands alongside Jeffrey Herlings and Glenn Coldenhoff.
Speaking to Julian Kehr from Cross Magazin, van de Moosdijk reflected on securing the ADAC title and his preparations for the MXoN.
“I wrapped up the championship at Vellahn a few weeks back. That weekend the championship was in my mind because you know you can grab it. I wasn’t completely there speed wise so I finished three times in second position. From there on I worked even harder and also to prepare for the MXoN. I feel good and I felt comfortable all weekend here. Yesterday, I was pleased with my start – it was my first holeshot of the year. I had three comfortable leads – today it was twice above thirty seconds. It’s a confidence booster for next weekend”.
Van de Moosdijk to race 450cc at MXoN
Van de Moosdijk was originally expected to compete on a 250cc machine at the Nations, but Kay de Wolf’s injury changed the Dutch team’s plans. The Kosak KTM rider will now line up in on a 450cc alongside Coldenhoff, with the federation ultimately leaving the decision over which bike Coldenhoff would use to the experienced Dutch rider.
“I was supposed to ride the 250cc at the Nations but then Kay de Wolf got injured. I was then able to race a 450cc with Glenn Coldenhoff in MX2. The federation left the decision to Glenn and he decided to race a 250cc. I was fine with that because I’ve spent all season on the 450cc – I’m more comfortable with that. Although I also feel good on the 250cc, I spent two weeks in France and I could put the bike anywhere and it felt nice. We will do hard pack training this week and then we’re ready to go on the 450cc”.
Podium the goal for Team Netherlands
With Herlings leading the Dutch effort and Coldenhoff bringing considerable MXoN experience, van de Moosdijk believes the Netherlands has a very strong line-up heading into Ernée.
“I think with Jeffrey, you know if everything goes right, he’ll probably go 1-1. We have a really strong rider there. Myself and Glenn – he has so much experience and he’s going to do well. I am maybe back in my form from the 250cc days when I was with a factory team. I think we’ll be good and we can put it on the podium, that’s our goal”.
Prize money changes in the ADAC
Van de Moosdijk also discussed the prize money available in the ADAC MX Masters series, suggesting that the reduction for the championship winner could potentially have an impact on the number of riders choosing to compete the series in the future.
“The prize money is down around half from last year let’s say for the winner. I feel with this series many good riders also come. In MXGP, I don’t get any money so I need to race somewhere to get money and I feel like when it goes down in prize money then maybe less riders will come. I will talk with my manager and we’ll talk to the other guys to lift it up next year”.
Future remains open
As for 2027, van de Moosdijk admits that his plans remain undecided. A move towards more racing in the United States is one possibility, particularly with the opportunity to collect the points required for the SuperMotocross World Championship.
“I don’t know if I’ll be here next year. There is a big chance I could but I don’t know yet. After the Nations we will discuss it and decide. It’s all open for the moment. We did speak about going more to the USA next year so I could grab enough points to do SMX. It’s on our mind, we will see. There are some good bonuses there”.
For now, however, van de Moosdijk’s focus is firmly on Ernée and the chance to deliver a strong result for Team Netherlands at one of the biggest events of the motocross season.
