Race One: Noel Zanocz got a pretty good start with his Fantic and quickly got into the lead to pull away at the front. The same can’t be said for Gyan Doensen as he got a bad start – he was buried down in fifteenth at the end of lap one but stayed patient to work his way through the pack.
The Dutch talent ended up battling through to fifth – there’s now three points in the championship chase with Zanocz back leading the way but it’s going to go right down to the wire.
Mancini rode well for second with Bellei passing the impressive Manini for third.
McCullough was involved in first lap chaos but came from the very back up to eighteenth at a very hard pack and rocky circuit.
Race Two: In the second moto Doensen managed to get a better start as he was ahead of Zanocz as the pair were in the top five – the championship battle was well and truly on! Mancini got the holeshot and cleared off at the front with Mantovani riding well in second.
After passing Bellei, Zanocz was on a mission and passed Doensen before he then caught Mantovani. Bellei was riding really well and following Zanocz as the pair started to catch Mancini. Bellei then made a move and passed both to win the moto – what a ride! Zanocz was able to pass Mancini as well to take the overall win and take the championship in style. History is made as he is the first EMX champion from Hungary.
Doensen finished fourth and will be frustrated – losing a title by only 7 points!
McCullough got a better start in race two and finished eleventh and thirteenth overall in the championship – a very solid season!
