Joey Savatgy was the guy who topped superpole beating out both Tomac and Roczen but it was Webster with the holeshot in race one, Tomac starting fourth and Roczen with a terrible start coming from last but he tore through the field impressively fast in the opening laps to get into the top five. But, just when it looked like he would get onto the back wheel of Tomac who was still stuck in fourth, Tomac pulled the pin and went to the lead with Roczen following suit but by the time he got to second, Tomac had a five second and took the win.

In race two it was Tomac who took the holeshot and immediately pulled away with Savatgy second and, yet again, Roczen forced to charge through the field after a bad start! Roczen got his way to third and with two laps to go went at it with Savatgy for second with Joey coming out on top passing Roczen back twice to secure the runner-up spot.

Race three saw Tomac holeshot and check out again with Roczen gating fourth and Savatgy fifth but Roczen had to jump off the track after nearly colliding with Clout and that drooped the German back behind Savatgy. It became another last lap duel for second with Roczen and Savatgy but this time Roczen made the pass stick but he wasn’t happy with his starts, stating bluntly after the race, “I need better starts I cannot get off the gate at all…it needs to improve.”

Coty Schock held of a charging Shane McElrath to win race one and race two was looking similar until Schock went down on lap five in a rhythm section with McElrath alongside him trying to make the pass. McElrath took the lead and win with Lopes, who again didn’t start well, second with Schock remounting for fifth. Race three saw McElrath holeshot and run away with the win from Schock with Lopes again coming from a bad start to third.

Superfinal

Eli Tomac took the holeshot again but this time it was Roczen who finally got away well exiting turn one in second and he put the pressure on Tomac for the opening three laps as they pulled away from the rest of the field until Roczen went down in a corner!

Roczen got up just ahead of Wilson and was still second but it was now a six second gap to Tomac and that was all Tomac needed to take the win without pressure. Dean Wilson held off Joey Savatgy in the final two laps to take third.

Shane McElrath was top SX2 rider in sixth and was all over Luke Clout for fifth showing his speed against the 450s and Enzo Lopes was right behind McElrath in seventh showing the 250s are very competitive in the Superfinal – except on the start.

Tomac said: “Overall, it was a great night of racing, was able to get my starts dialled in and have a lot of fun out there. There were some really fun sections on this track, the finish line was huge, can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow. Right now everything is just working, just trying to put everything together and staying mistake free as much as I can and try to keep getting better – never be complacent.”

McElrath said: “Feels good to be working hard and I’m doing my job. This has been a blast, today was a very hard race day, the track was beat up and always changing. Those 450s, it was tough to go a lot faster than them, some of the lines didn’t shape up. I am excited for tomorrow.”
