Jorge Prado wasn’t totally happy with his results in Loket, as Tim Gajser gained a couple more points in the championship but, as ever, Prado made the best of the situation and is now ready to attack in the sand.
Jorge said: To be honest not super happy, we want to catch up on Tim and we lost some points again. But it is what it is.
On why he struggled with the track, Prado explained: I was struggling a little bit on this track with traction because I’m quite light, but I tried my best and gave it my all, and I think we came away with the best result we could
We got the sand races coming up, I grew up in the sand, it should be good. I’m looking forward to Lommel next weekend and make a good bounce back.
But Jeffrey Herlings is in great form right now and, like Prado, he loves the sand, “Last weekend (before Loket) I did a sand race (ADAC), we had really good speed there as well in the deep sand. I think my bike there is really good. I guess the only thing I really need is two decent starts – top three or top five starts. We’ll see where we get.“
For both Herlings and Prado, it’s becoming essential to make points on Gajser in the championship with just 7 rounds to go. It seems they sense Lommel is an opportunity to decrease the points lead the consistent Slovenian has built.
Prado and Herlings need the win this weekend and they seem motivated to do just that but Gajser has shown in the past he is not too shaby in the sand himself.
This could be a huge weekend and maybe pivotal in the momentum of the MXGP championship.
