It has been confirmed that Max Spies and Kosak KTM will part ways after two years together which saw the young German make the step up to compete at the highest level – the MXGP World Championship.
Spies has plenty of potential for the future showing top ten pace in the toughest class in the world but has had to deal with injury and health problems this year. At the moment, it’s not sure if he’ll race the MXGP finale this weekend in what would be his last race with the team.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Spies. With Kosak KTM it also remains to be seen if Tom Koch will remain under the awning as well as Roan van de Moosdijk who they snapped up this year after his stints with Fantic and Honda.
We caught up with Spies who was kind enough to give us the following update on the situation:
“We will part ways after two years of racing. It’s been some achievements we’ve done together in my first years in the MXGP and ADAC MX Masters class. This year wasn’t very easy, we have had a lot of ups and downs resulted that we weren’t finding a solution that will fit me again. We are both okay to part ways and I will see what the future holds for me.
“For sure I had the MXGP dream and for sure I have shown some pretty good races and some top ten results, even last year in my rookie season with not even being twenty years old. But now it’s time to step ahead in those difficult times, just not sure where the road will take me for now”.
“I am very motivated for next year to forget this “chaos season” with all those injuries, (from broken hip to blood infections) and technical issues we have had to be covered in a more solid season in 2025. Just not sure what brand and what team it will be with”.
