The 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship is set to kick off this weekend at the newly constructed Infinito Race Track in Córdoba, Argentina. As the event approaches, weather forecasts suggest that riders and fans should prepare for challenging conditions, with rain anticipated during the race days.
The 2024 season had plenty of mud races – it felt like it rained anywhere MXGP went last year and now the opening round of the 2025 season looks like it is going to be a mud race as well.
The weather forecast is currently giving heavy thunderstorms for both Saturday and Sunday.
The Infinito Race Track, a brand-new 1,800-meter circuit featuring 15 turns and numerous jumps, has been meticulously designed to offer both technical challenges for riders and 360° visibility for spectators. Despite the anticipated rain, event organizers have confirmed that the MXGP Argentina YPF will proceed as scheduled, emphasizing that the event will not be canceled due to weather conditions.
Riders will need to quickly adapt to the new track layout and the potential for muddy, slippery conditions. The combination of a fresh circuit and inclement weather is expected to test their skills and resilience, potentially leading to unexpected results in the opening round.
Mud is the ultimate leveler so as long as the track isn’t underwater and the racing goes ahead as planned. We might have some surprises around the corner this weekend.
