Lars Lindstrom: “From what I’ve heard, Jett’s already starting to go Jett speed”

After months of uncertainty following a serious winter injury, there are positive signs emerging around Jett Lawrence’s recovery. The Australian superstar, who was forced to miss another Supercross campaign, now appears to be building momentum again as he works his way back toward full fitness to take on the AMA Pro Motocross series.

Back in December, Lawrence suffered fractures to his right ankle and foot in a training crash—an injury that proved more complex than initially expected. While he largely stayed out of the spotlight during his rehabilitation, reports suggested the recovery process was even more demanding than the ACL injury he overcame the previous year.

Encouragingly, progress has been steady in recent weeks. According to HRC Honda team manager Lars Lindstrom, Lawrence has already been back on the bike for close to a month, carefully building up intensity step by step.

“Jett’s been on the bike for, I think almost a month now. You know, he started off kind of easy, on the turn track and things like that and just kind of, you know, easing into it with his foot. Did that for a couple of weeks and then moved to the outdoor track—on a smooth outdoor track—and then now on a bumpy outdoor track. So, he’s progressing really good”.

The gradual return—from controlled conditions to more demanding outdoor tracks—highlights a structured approach to ensure the injury is fully healed before pushing at race pace. It’s a methodical progression, but one that appears to be paying off.

The positive news doesn’t stop with Lawrence. Honda’s squad is finally nearing full strength again, with Chance Hymas already back on a bike and Jo Shimoda recently returning to riding duties.

“We’re gonna go testing with him this week. And now we have all four guys riding. So, it’s pretty exciting to have, you know, Chance Hymas, he’s been riding now for a while, and Jo just started riding last week and he’s starting to feel pretty good. So, I’m excited to go back to Florida and get to watch all four of my guys, you know, training and riding. And from what I’ve heard, Jett’s already starting to go Jett speed. So, yeah, I’m just stoked for outdoors. So, you know, having all four guys back in the truck”, Lindstrom stated.

For Lawrence, the mention of “Jett speed” is perhaps the most significant takeaway. Known for his effortless dominance when at full fitness, any return to that level—especially after such a complicated injury—signals that he may not be far away from challenging at the front once again when the AMA Pro Motocross series gets undeway.

If Lawrence continues on this upward trajectory, fans may soon see one of the sport’s brightest stars back where he belongs—fighting for wins and reminding everyone exactly why he’s considered one of the best in the world.
