Interview: James Stewart on his career and speed on a 125!

We had the privilege of speaking to James Stewart at Pala about different aspects of hos career from his speed on a 125 to racing Reed and Carmichael and even talk racing Stefan Everts at Matterley Basin MXoN in 2006!

On his 125 speed, Stewart said: “I think a lot of it came from how I grew up.
We didn’t have a lot of money, I couldn’t ride in the sand a lot or the mud because we couldn’t afford clutches and air filters. So I learned how to ride a motorcycle without a clutch. That was one of the things like my dad took the clutch off the motorcycle and I had to learn how to ride it.

“And so you learn how to keep momentum up and so for me in the 125 class, my bike was, a lot of times, one of the slowest ones out there. It was a good motorcycle but it was slow compared to the 250F. So the only way I could compete is by carrying speed. So you just continue to build that and the same thing when I was in amateur. So it kind of started from when how I originally started and knew how to ride by shifting and carrying momentum.
