Official: Team Spain draft in Francisco Garcia for 2026 MXoN

  • Rubén Fernández will undergo surgery after the fall he suffered in the Turkish Grand Prix, which prevents him from competing in the MX of Nations and the rest of the season.
  • Francisco García, the newly crowned European champion, takes his place in the Spanish team, after having already defended the national colors in the last edition of the event.
  • Paco Rico does not rule out adding three national champions to the team this season, with Jorge Prado, Guillem Farrés and Francisco García forming the Spanish team.

The Spanish team that will compete in the 2026 MX of Nations, to be held on October 2, 3, and 4 at the Ernée circuit in France, will undergo a last-minute change due to Rubén Fernández’s injury. Following his crash at the Turkish Grand Prix, the Spanish rider will require surgery to treat his injuries, preventing him from representing Spain at one of the most important events of the season.

Absence of Rubén Fernández

The Royal Spanish Motorcycle Federation (RFME) wishes to convey its full support to Rubén Fernández, wishing him a speedy recovery and hoping that he can return to competition fully recovered.

Francisco García, back with the national team

His place on the Spanish team will be taken by Francisco García, the newly crowned European champion, who returns to the national squad after having already represented Spain in the last edition of the MX of Nations. “I’m really happy and motivated to be able to compete in the Nations for the second time. It’s a dream come true for any rider, and this year we have a strong and competitive team. Plus, I have the experience from last year. We’re one of the favorite teams, and that motivates me even more: I’ll fight until the last lap for my Spanish flag,” says Fran.

The Spanish driver also arrives fully recovered from the injury that kept him out of competition and faces this new opportunity with enormous motivation and with the goal of contributing all his potential to the team.

“Rubén’s injury is a real shame, especially the way it happened, with a fall that wasn’t his fault. But that’s the nature of the sport, and we have to accept it. Our first priority is to wish him all the best and a full recovery as soon as possible.”

Now it’s Rubén’s turn to be replaced, and Francisco García is joining the team again, just like last year. He’s fully recovered from his injury, he’s incredibly motivated, and I’m sure he’ll give his all to help the Spanish team achieve our goals.

It’s clear we had a team capable of winning everything, and I still think we do. If everything goes well for them, we could have three champions from their respective categories on the team this year. That demonstrates the enormous level we have.

What I’m sure of is that all three are highly motivated to fight for everything on the track. Now we’re going to work against the clock to reorganize all the details and ensure the Spanish team arrives in Ernée with the best possible equipment to face the MX of Nations.” — Paco Rico, National Team Coach

With this change, Spain’s ambitions remain unchanged for the next edition of the MX Nations, with a team ready to fight for top positions and defend the national colors with maximum intensity in Ernée.
