Aaron Plessinger had a tough Supercross season with the population American seemingly finding himself simply in the wrong place at the wrong time more often than not but, after recovering from injury, Plessinger was back for outdoors and back on the pace at Hangtown – but he still wants more!
Aaron told us: “I was happy, but not satisfied, you know, I would have really liked to get up to the top five and battle with those guys. But overall, you know, I think just need some time under the belt and some more mottos and just take her around on the bike a little bit.
But yeah, I mean, I’m stoked to get out of here and score some good points and go on to Hangtown in a better place. And nothing majorly went wrong, which is a good sign for the season. So I can take this as a base and build from there. I think fitness wise, my base needs a little bit of work.
But bike wise, we got a good base on the bike. And then, you know, these guys worked their ass off for me all weekend. I was putting them to work. So, yeah, I think we got a good base and we are out here this week so we can test. And yeah, man, I’m excited for the summer. It’s a good way to start off.
But he admitted the Supercross season was frustrating and it took a while to get the flow again outdoors! “Yeah, I mean, it’s tough. It’s tough for sure. But it’s just you’ve got to put that stuff behind you. If you dwell on it too much, it’ll bring you down big time. So, yeah, I mean, I took that time off and it was hard, but I just tried to leave it behind me and just move forward. And that’s what I did.
And when I started riding again, it was it was a little bit easier. I mean, it was just a big grind, honestly, the last four weeks. I really didn’t have any fitness. I just kind of grinded it out and was doing 30s. They weren’t pretty. And these were a lot prettier than my 30s during the last couple of weeks! So I think we got a good base and we’ll just move from here, move forward.
And what about 2027 with his contract up at KTM, is there more pressure? (Rumours have Plessinger potentially a Triumph for next season). “I just need to put in results and you just ride like normal,” said Aaron. ” If I go and do my job, somebody’s going to get me. If I go out there and do what I need to do, I know somebody’s going to pick me up. So doesn’t really put any pressure on me. I just need to go out there and and prove I can still do it.”
