Injury update: Andrea Bonacorsi – Surgery


Andrea Bonacorsi’s promising MXGP qualifying race in Latvia ended in painful fashion after the Italian was involved in a heavy crash while running inside the top ten. The factory Ducati rider required immediate medical attention after a foot peg struck his abdomen during the incident, raising concerns over the severity of the injury.

Fortunately, Ducati has now provided a positive update on Bonacorsi’s condition, confirming that surgery was successful and that there is no internal organ damage. The Italian remains in a stable condition as he begins his recovery process, with the team hopeful of seeing him back at the races as soon as possible.

Following the incident, Ducati released the following statement:

Update on Andrea Bonacorsi. Unfortunately, during yesterday’s qualifying session, Andrea Bonacorsi was involved in a crash. In the accident, a foot peg impacted his abdomen, and he was immediately transported to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Andrea underwent surgery, which was successfully completed. We are relieved to confirm that there is no internal organ damage, and his condition is stable.

We would like to thank the medical staff for their outstanding care and everyone who has sent messages of support. Andrea will now focus on his recovery, and we will keep you updated on his progress.
